10 Most Affordable 3 Row Vehicles

Whether you have a lot of kids, extended family nearby, or are the hero of your carpool, having a vehicle with three rows of room can be hugely helpful. It's also nice to know you can buy a vehicle like this for less than you may think. Here's a list of the 10 most affordable 3-row vehicles, based on Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price as of May 2014. Pricing includes destination charges and any additional charge for a third row option where not standard.

(#1)

2014 Mazda MAZDA5

It’s the smallest entry on this list and only has room for six, but with a Fair Purchase Price of $19,329 the Mazda5 checks in as the most affordable 3-row vehicle you can buy. Based on the same architecture that underpinned the previous version of the fun-to-drive Mazda3, Mazda’s small people-mover is even available with a manual transmission for families that like to carve canyon roads together.

2014 Dodge Grand Caravan

The Grand Caravan basically started the minivan craze, and it's the least expensive minivan out there. The lowest-priced model is part of Dodge's American Value Package series and comes with Uconnect, stability control, V6 power, airbags for all three rows and in-floor storage, all for a Fair Purchase Price of $20,033.

2014 Dodge Journey

The Journey is affordable and versatile, making it easy to manage a large family and its gear on a budget. The AVP model comes with handy storage bins in the floor of the second row, plus the rear seat reclines and folds flat. The $21,221 starting Fair Purchase Price is almost icing on the cake.

2014 Mitsubishi Outlander

Loaded with goodies at its starting Fair Purchase Price of $21,977, feature-based value is the Outlander's calling card. Not only are the fold-flat third-row seats standard, so are a 6-speaker stereo, micron air filter, and safety features like stability control, traction control, hill-start assist and a tire pressure monitoring system.

2014 Nissan Rogue

The Rogue's third row may be the smallest of this group, but it's all you need to shuttle littler people on shorter trips. Totally redesigned for 2014, the second-generation Rogue is one of our favorite compact SUVs, and now the only car in its class to even offer a third row. With the extra seats, the Rogue's starting Fair Purchase Price is $23,215.

2014 Kia Sedona

This is a family favorite, because there is so much value baked into Kia's minivan. The Sedona has a lot to offer, from a long list of standard features to a powertrain warranty that will take the kids from diapers all the way to the 5th grade. The 2014 model starts at a Fair Purchase Price of $25,109, but a 2015 redesign will mean great deals on 2014 models — making a great value even better.

2014 Nissan Quest

Distinctly styled outside, Nissan's minivan is rich, attractive and comfortable inside. Even at its base Fair Purchase Price of $25,344, the Quest comes with climate controls for all three rows, a spacious storage cubby behind the third row and Nissan's cool Easy-Fill Tire Alert, which gives a quick honk when you've filled a tire with the right amount of air.

2014 Toyota Sienna

One of our 12 Best Family Cars for 2014 and among the most reliable, dependable minivans out there, the Toyota Sienna also counts as one of the most affordable 3-row vehicles you can buy. At a starting Fair Purchase Price of $25,582, Toyota's surprisingly quick, roomy minivan includes desirable features like 3-zone air conditioning and no-cost maintenance with roadside assistance.

2015 Kia Sorento

A smaller, more affordable alternative to midsize SUVs like the Honda Pilot or Ford Explorer, Kia's bestseller is also more efficient and easier to maneuver through kid-busy parking lots than those larger SUVs. A 2015 Kia Sorento LX V6 includes the third row as standard equipment and has a Fair Purchase Price of $26,003 at time of publishing.

(#10)

2014 Ford Transit Connect

A brand new entry for 2014, the Transit Connect blends the versatile interior of a minivan with more responsive driving character. And it's well-equipped, too. At its base Fair Purchase Price of $26,226, the 7-passenger Transit Connect comes with a rearview camera, fixed panoramic moonroof and a choice of rear cargo doors or liftgate. It's also ready for your next home improvement project: it can carry up to 1270 pounds of landscaping materials, tile or whatever else you can think of.
